Today, we dive into the file of four-star recruit and Michigan commit, Jaydn Davis. Before I continue, do you want to become an elite, championship-level quarterback or develop one? Learn quarterback development from former head coach Todd Dodge, who has over 30 years coaching at the high school and college level (North Texas as a HC, and Pittsburgh as a QBs coach).

This course teaches but is not limited to: developing football IQ, accuracy, footwork, identifying coverages, etc. You can purchase this course here.

Position: Quarterback

HT: 6-1 WT: 202

College: Michigan

Class: Freshman

Credentials:

North Carolina Player of the Year (2022)

Strengths:

-Makes quick reads

-Very good at getting the ball out of his hands quickly

-Seems to excel at short, intermediate throws

-Able to fit the ball into tight windows.

-Will climb the pocket and find open receivers.

-Very good at hitting receivers in stride, allowing them to get extra yards after the catch

+Quick feet, gets into a set-up position quickly

-Excellent at making accurate throws on the run

-Shows poise in the pocket

-Has the escapability to make plays with his feet, but chooses to stay in the pocket, using his feet to buy extra time instead

Weaknesses:

-Needs to add more to his frame to withstand hits at the next level

-Doesn't go through his progressions much, which could lead to telegraphing his throws, making it easier for the defense to read him

-Deep throws are off when doesn't set his feet

Final Analysis:

Overall, a solid prospect who would benefit from a run-first or run-balanced offense initially. Operated mostly out of the shotgun, I would like to see him get more experience under center.

Due to the offense he played in, he didn't go through his progressions much, which could make easier for defenses to read him at the next level. Initially, I view him as the Tua Tagovailoa/Jared Goff type. Has the potential to elevate with the right coaching.
